Condensation vs Damp
Different causes, different fixes. Here's how to tell them apart without a survey.
Condensation is water from indoor air landing on cold surfaces. It usually appears on window reveals, external corners, behind furniture.
Penetrating damp comes through the wall from outside. Look for a stain that gets worse when it rains.
Rising damp is water travelling up from the ground. Rare in properties built after 1900 — most 'rising damp' is misdiagnosed condensation.
